The Killers‘ frontman Brandon Flowers has spoken of how Vampire Weekend inspired the band’s latest album ‘Imploding The Mirage‘, and how it reminded him of a healthy rivalry he once felt with The Strokes.Speaking in this week’s NME Big Read cover story, Flowers revealed how The Killers found themselves in somewhat of a rut in early writing sessions for their latest record – until he heard Vampire Weekend’s 2019 album ‘Father Of The Bride‘.“That really helped to propel us into the right direction and realise that we couldn’t just phone in The Killers’ record,” Flowers told NME. “We had to do better.
