The original strain of the virus was Stephen King’s short story — published in 1977, at the heart of his shivery heyday. The tale of a group of Nebraska farm-town children who worship a demon that lives in the local cornfields, it was like a slasher version of “Lord of the Flies,” with a touch of the creepiness of “The Wicker Man.” The kids killed the adults around them, but the scariest thing about them is that they’d become a cult. The cornfield demon, known as He Who Walks Behind the Rows, was less a monster than a force, one that spoke to gathering forces in our society — impulses of religious zealotry and intolerance that were starting to take shape by the late ’70s.

Longtime friends Brad Pitt and George Clooney get back to work in New York City on the set of their new Apple TV Plus movie Wolves.The 59-year-old Pitt and 61-year-old Clooney were spotted filming night shoots on location in the Big Apple on Tuesday.The Ocean's Eleven co-stars haven't starred in a movie since 2008's Burn After Reading, though they will reunite in this highly-anticipated project.Pitt was seen on set wearing the same outfit he's been wearing for the last few weeks - a white dress shirt under a black leather jacket.He also wore grey dress pants and black dress shoes for his day on the set of the thriller.

Fans are still thinking that George Clooney might return as a version of Batman in one of James Gunn‘s planned DC Universe films.

In case you’re not very terminally online, you may have missed this story and rumor. And to be fair, we do try and ignore some of these wild rumors, but this one has been so crazy it’s prompted DC Studios co-chief James Gunn to respond.

James Gunn took to Twitter on Saturday to deny rumors circulating that George Clooney will return to the role of Batman.The Guardians of the Galaxy director, 56, has taken on a new role as the new studio head of DC Studios alongside producer Peter Safran, and the pair have recently begun making changes to future projects.Due to his new role, the screenwriter has been bombarded with questions about the studio's future, including upcoming casting announcements.One rumor that has been circling is whether or not George Clooney, 61, will reprise his role as Batman in any new DC films.Gunn replied to a tweet that asked: 'Is it true you're casting George Clooney as the new main DCU Batman?' to which he replied, 'Absolutely not.' Showtime has given a straight-to-series order to The Department (w/t) based on the acclaimed French espionage political thriller The Bureau, from George Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smokehouse Pictures, MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios. Clooney will direct the series and also executive produce with Heslov through their Smokehouse Pictures. Production is slated to begin later this year.

I guess when you have George Clooney saying he’ll direct a new prestige drama series for you, it’s kind of hard to pass up. At least, in the case of Showtime, which just gave a straight-to-series order for a season of “The Department,” directed by the aforementioned Clooney.
