Brad Lyons signs new Kilmarnock contract to keep him at Rugby Park until 2026

Brad Lyons has committed his future to Kilmarnock by penning a new deal.The midfielder will be staying at Rugby Park until 2026 after his contract extension was announced by the club this afternoon.The 26-year-old said there was no doubt in his mind about staying put in Ayrshire.Lyons, who's made 75 appearances and scored four goals for Killie since joining from Blackburn Rovers, told the club's official media: “I am delighted to extend my stay here, there was no doubt in my mind about signing a new deal.“This club means a lot to me, it has been a great three years with some fantastic memories, hopefully we can add to those special times.“I live in the town so I know how much the club means to the fans, it’s a great club to be a part of so it was an honour to be offered a new deal.”The Northern Ireland joined in the summer of 2021, helping Killie to the Championship title and back into the Scottish Premiership.Lyons hasn't kicked a ball since December due to injury but is now back in training.Killie boss Derek McInnes added: “First thing’s first, we are delighted to have Brad back in training.“The timing of him signing this new deal is brilliant, it was a conversation we had with Brad and he was eager to commit, thankfully between the board and Brad we managed to get the deal done.“It’s great for us, although we have a few loan players, I think it’s important that we drive a culture here that we have mainstay players, ones that we can rely on.“Brad’s became an international player in the last year which shows the rewards are there, he’s at a good age and he will only get better and better.“The way he’s trained this week sums it up, it looks like he’s never even been away, that’s the kind of people we need in the building
