Lyons won his first senior cap for Northern Ireland against Slovenia in midweek and it’s a moment he’ll never forget. It’s been a brilliant rise and, given he wasn’t even a guaranteed starter for Killie at the beginning of the season, one the 26-year-old won’t ever take for granted.Lyons credits his club pals for assisting his charge into Michael O’Neill’s squad and he needs to keep delivering for Killie to stay there.
He said: “It lived up to my expectations and even more. I had my family and girlfriend in the stands. It was the proudest moment of my life up until now.
I don’t think I can even sum up this season so far on a personal note. It is crazy.“We had the first game against San Marino last Saturday and I was a wee bit frustrated that I didn’t feature.
