A boy of 12 attacked on his way to school earlier this week was subjected to an 'unprovoked' assault by a man in front of shocked fellow pupils, police have confirmed.
The youngster suffered head injuries during the attack near Cheetham Hill Road while he was heading to Abraham Moss Community School in Crumpsall where is a year 8 pupil.

He suffered head injuries which are believed to be minor. Patrols have now been stepped up in the local area 'to reassure' locals, according to Greater Manchester Police.
