A woman who lost both of her parents in the space of a year said she was in 'shock' after discovering her father's killer will serve just over five years in jail.

Jonathan Langston, 52, was killed when he was hit by a VW Golf being driven by 28-year-old Adeel Safdar. Safdar was driving at 93mph in a 30mph zone shortly before the crash on Wilbraham Road in Chorlton.

A year earlier, Mr Langston's wife Helene died aged 49 after losing her battle with bowel cancer. Their funerals were held on the same date, a year apart.

Safdar, who pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving, was sentenced to eight years in prison. Try MEN Premium now for FREE...
