Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Borna Barisic delivers unflinching Rangers title honesty and claims 'something is missing' since Steven Gerrard left

Borna Barisic claims Rangers haven’t been in a position to win a Premiership title since Steve Gerrard left the club. The Croatian left-back spent six years at Ibrox before departing for Trabzonspor earlier this summer.

Barisic was a key figure in Gerrard’s title-winning squad in 2021, who thwarted Celtic’s bid for 10-in-a-row. Rangers were expected to kick on after their unbeaten title triumph.

But instead, after Gerrard’s shock exit to Aston Villa, they’ve played second fiddle to their Old Firm rivals, who are now gunning for their fourth league title on the spin.

Barisic admits the players have to take responsibility for not kicking on. But he says since Gerrard walked out the door, their title challenge has been hindered due to certain elements of the club not being right.
