Boris Johnson has promised an end to social distancing in the UK... by October 2021. The Prime Minister told Tory members "next time we meet" at conference it will be "face to face and cheek by jowl".
Apart from a much smaller spring 'forum', Tory members only come together en masse once a year at the October conference. The pledge is a far cry from the PM's comments in July - when he said he was aiming for "significant normality" by Christmas.
Since then Britain has been engulfed by a second wave, with more than 12,000 new cases reported in one day. On Sunday the PM admitted it will be a "bumpy" winter but insisted things would improve by Spring.
