James Bond star George Lazenby has given his seal of approval for ‘ballsy’ actor Margot Robbie to be the first female 007 as Daniel Craig hangs up his tuxedo. The former 007 thinks its time a woman took on the iconic role – and thinks Margot is the perfect fit for it.

George, who starred in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service in 1969, told The Sun: ’I would rather see a woman on screen than a man, so it might be a good idea having a woman play James Bond  . . .

Jane Bond. I think it’s a good idea. ‘I mean, why not? There’s an Australian actress who’s over here that I was just listening to on the television today, Margot Robbie.’ The 80-year-old continued: ‘She would be good.
