But he points out that this is not necessarily the fault of the individuals themselves who are being sought to officiate a professional game when they may have day jobs to go to as well.
And Evatt wants to see referees paid more to ensure there are greater numbers of professionals to officiate the game and cut out some of the errors the Bolton boss feels are occurring right now.
He said: “I don’t want to say too much to get myself into trouble but I do think the standard of refereeing is not good enough.
