A man allegedly stabbed to death at a commune in Portugal during a 'Mad Hatter's Tea Party’ music festival has been named as a former pupil at the private Bolton School.
Tributes have been paid to 'creative genius' Neil Sutcliffe, who was 37 and from Bolton. His family said he had recently moved to live on a converted lifeboat in London, with one of his brothers saying it 'gave him the freedom he had yearned for'.
Mr Sutcliffe was reportedly known to friends as 'Bingo' and was a sound engineering and design university graduate. He described himself on an Instagram site where he posted his sketches and paintings as a London-based artist who 'wears silly costumes in genre defying escapades'. John Sutcliffe, one of his two elder brothers, revealed in an emotional online tribute that a teacher had described his brother as 'one of the most musically-gifted children' he had ever taught.
He added: "In the last few years he made the decision to move to London and live on a converted lifeboat. While this might not sound like the best plan for the majority of us, it suited Neil to the ground and gave him the freedom he had yearned for. "He loved his new life and his new-found freedom.
