A body has been found on a Scots island in the search for a missing woman. The discovery was made on Cramond Island in the Firth of Forth, near Edinburgh, at 2.50pm today.
Although formal identification is still to take place, the family of Averil Shepley have been informed. The 47-year-old was reported missing after she disappeared from the Marchmont area of the capital.
Officers remain at the scene and inquiries to establish the circumstances around her death remain ongoing. A statement from Police Scotland reads: "At 2.50pm today the body of a woman was found on Cramond Island as part of ongoing inquiries to locate a missing person. "No formal identification has taken place, however, the family of Averil Shepley, 47, reported missing from Edinburgh, has been notified."Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing."
