Comedian Bob Mortimer has opened up about a recent hospital dash after he was taken ill over the weekend and rushed in for urgent treatment.The 63 year old star shared the news during an episode of Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast, which was filmed that the Leicester Square Theatre last night.
Revealing the sudden and scary experience, Bob explained that he was “not very well” and even had to be raced to hospital at the weekend as his symptoms took a turn for the worst. "I am not very well.
I am not very healthy at the moment,” he began. "I did a show last week, a fishing show and there was only two and a half days filming and I did it Tuesday, Wednesday and half of Thursday and I was in hospital on the Saturday.
I am sorry I should not have said that should I? It's a real downer.” While Bob didn’t reveal what had prompted the sudden dash, he did speak about his previous diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis, a painful autoimmune condition which can cause severe swelling and stiffness of the joints, along with pain.
