Bob MacIntyre admits a dream debut at the Ryder Cup is within his sights. Despite being left disappointed by his weak finish to The Open, the Scottish star still sits in an automatic qualifying position for Luke Donald’s side to head to Rome.
MacIntyre retains third spot behind Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm in the European Points List. Austrian Sepp Straka performed superbly to finish tied-second at Hoylake but his efforts go on to the World Points List where Viktor Hovland, Tyrrell Hatton and Tommy Fleetwood currently hold the spots.
There are just three events left to secure qualification through the DP World Tour – the World Invitational in Northern Ireland, the Czech Masters and the European Masters in Switzerland.
MacIntyre is taking a well-earned rest ahead of a final push and admits it’s impossible to block out thoughts of facing the United States at Marco Simone.
