Actress Blake Lively has shared a heartfelt tribute to her late Gossip Girl co-star Michelle Trachtenberg, who passed away at just 39.

Best known for her role as troublemaker Georgina Sparks in Gossip Girl and as Buffy's sister in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Michelle was pronounced deceased after paramedics were called to One Columbus Place in New York early Wednesday morning, the city’s police department said.

Her death is not being treated as suspicious and the police said the medical examiner will determine the cause of her death.

A representative for Michelle told the PA news agency: “It is with great sadness to confirm that Michelle has passed away.The family requests privacy for their loss.There are no further details at this time.” Following the sad news of her death, Blake took to Instagram stories posting an image of herself with Michelle, remembering her "work and huge heart" with the caption: "Everything she did, she did 200%. "She laughed the fullest at someone's joke, she faced authority head on when she felt something was wrong, she cared deeply about her work, she was proud to be a part of this community and industry as painful as it could be sometimes, she was fiercely loyal to her friends and brave for those she loved, she was big and bold and distinctly herself." She poignantly concluded, "Time passes.
