Blackburn Rovers have stuck a six-figure offer on the table for Hibs defender Ryan Porteous.Ewood Park chiefs, pushing for promotion back to the Premier League, are locked in talks with their Easter Road counterparts over the 23-year-old defender’s potential transfer.
It was Record Sport who revealed at the weekend that Rovers, who are currently fifth and among the play-off spots in the English Championship, were about to make their move for the Scotland cap. They have now done so and are desperate to get the deal done in this window, pushing before others come to the table.
Hibs have already been in talks with Udinese but have been unable to agree a fee. There’s a number of Rovers’ Championship rivals also keen, including Stoke City.
Porteous has already turned down a contract at Hibs and stated he will be moving on. The Easter Road now need to maximise what they can get now rather than lose him for nothing this summer. If a deal can be struck with Blackburn, Porteous would be coached by Jon-Dahl Tomasson, who lost out to Lee Johnson in the fight to get the Hibs job last summer.
