Yes, you read that right. I’m sure you can imagine how many disingenuous enquiries or requests we get on or around this month for comment, opinion, a sound bite or two here and there.
We carefully consider each one and were of course delighted to share our thoughts on Black History Month with our friends and allies at OK!, with whom we have been collaborating with since 2020 - this call was a no-brainer!
The UK Black History Month was founded in 1987 by Mr Akyaaba Addai-Sebo, a Ghanaian political refugee working for the Greater London Council.
Inspired by Black History Month in the US, and motivated to act after hearing about a colleague whose 6 year old son was suffering from an identity crisis, Mr Addai-Sebo sought to create an annual.
