In the past, wearing full makeup to meet your little one might have ben relegated to celebrities like Heidi Montag, for example, who recently uploaded a video to of her makeup artist literally at work in the delivery room, but the concept is now enticing real women, as the hashtag #birthingmakeup has racked up more than 81.3 million views, with one from user @laedout amassing over 3.5 million likes alone.In a sense, the idea of birthing is nothing new.
In the mid 1900s, women were encouraged to look ‘pristine’ at all times and maintain a level of ‘showboating’ for their husbands even when fresh out of the delivery room.
And then you have the royals, who have long been known to pose outside the maternity ward with their blue-blooded bundle of joy as the camera lenses of the world’s media fall upon them.
