Cops raced to the scene at around 7:45am this morning after the alarm was raised. The 'unattended' refuse truck - which was not a council vehicle - had been on Blackfriars Street in the capital when it appeared to have rolled down the road.
The lorry crashed into a parked car before colliding with the wall of A&O Hostel near the city's Royal Mile.
