At the time of their alleged affair, both were still married to their respective spouses. Initially ABC said the duo would not face punishment because the relationship was consensual, and they were on equal footing within the ABC workplace power structure.
However, one month after yanking the duo from "GMA3," which they cohosted together, ABC let them go. An internal memo called the relationship a "distraction."Billy, though, thinks everyone should simply back off the couple and let them live. "I think they [could] do a podcast together or something great and lead it into another show," he said. "They've got something that works."He added, "I think everybody should find their way back."Billy, of course, knows what it's like to come back from an infamous situation.
The TV host was essentially "canceled" in 2016 after an "Access Hollywood" interview with then presidential candidate Donald Trump resurfaced.
