Irvine man Alan participated in 'The Wall' which is a gruelling 70-mile trek – along the Hadrian's Wall route – from Carlisle Castle to Newcastle's Millennium Bridge.The 51-year-old exceeded his expectations and finished the run in 13 hours and 35 minutes, beating his pledged time of 15 hours.And he thought of beloved Jim Lynn every step of the way.
Alan told Ayrshire Live: "The run went really well, better than I expected. The farthest distance I've ever ran before now is 35 miles."When I reached stop 44 I was totally buzzing because I said to myself, 'I only have another marathon to go, just another 25-odd miles to go' which was strange to say and it was a strange feeling.
