Bid to save Kilwinning Post Office service as business hunt is launched

Post Office bosses have launched a bid to make sure services are retained in Kilwinning.RS McColl on the town's Main Street, which houses the area's post office, will close after Christmas.Mail officials have now opened applications for businesses to register their interest in taking over the franchise.The news comes after the supermarket giant Morrisons, which is the parent company to RS McColl, made the call to close over 130 stores across the country due to low profits.But now, the Post Office has launched an online application form for other successful retailers to incorporate the Main Street branch into their business.The advert reads: "We're seeking applicants to set up brand new Post Offices in this area. "Post Office Ltd is looking for a successful retailer to incorporate a Post Office Main into their existing or proposed business. "The offer available would be Post Office Main branch – a dedicated Post Office area, a full range of services.

The exact layout and design will be agreed with you to suit your business. "Estimated Post Office fees: In the current location in the range of £44,550 - £49,500 per annum.
