Thank you, Dolly. Renowned Broadway and Film veteran Bette Midler has promised to match donations up to $100,000 for the Broadway Cares/ Equity fights AIDS’ Covid-19 fund says Deadline.
Broadway Cares launched the fund in early march with an initial donation of $250,000. Since then, initiatives to raise money for the fund have included The tonight show with Jimmy Fallon: At Home Edition which brought in $52,000.
Another $73,000 was raised by a reading of the late Terrence McNally play Lips Together, Teeth Apart. The fund currently totals $5,109,090. “Between her awe-inspiring talent and boundless generosity, we are so grateful to have Bette as a loyal and true friend of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS,” said Executive Director Tom Viola.
