states to live in, plus how the rankings are determined. U.S. News & World Report has been publishing rankings every year for a very long time and considers 71 different metrics to determine those rankings.

Here’s a breakdown of the rankings through eight different categories: 15.97% is health care, 15.94% is education, 13.36% is economy, 12.93% is infrastructure, 12.29% is opportunity, 11.36% is fiscal stability, 9.16% is crime and corrections, and 8.99% is natural environment.
