Albion Rovers saw their nine-game unbeaten run come to an end at Berwick Rangers on Saturday, but boss Sandy Clark says it was always going to happen at some stage.Rovers lost 2-0 at Berwick, who had a late penalty saved by Ross Connelly, and Clark said his side didn’t do enough to merit something from the trip to England. He said: “It was a game where we didn’t deserve to get anything.
We started alright, but without getting any real shots on goal. We had some good periods of possession, going forward, didn’t make it count, and lost a really poor goal, a bit freakish, and then lost our way until half-time.“We started the second half the more dominant team and tried to get back in it, but then lost a second goal halfway through from a free kick.“After that Berwick were better than us, they had more about them to make sure they held onto their lead, and we were never going to get anything.“We had 90 minutes without a shot on goal, which was really not like us.“But after going nine games in the league without losing, I suppose the law of averages meant it was going to happen, because it’s such a tight league.“I’m disappointed, but it happens.
They had more about them, got the first goal, and that was a crucial part of the match.“I’m not counting the penalty save as a positive.
At that point we weren’t going to get in the game anyway.“We tried changing personnel, and shape, but never got a grip of the game after we went 2-0 down, and I’m glad we didn’t go 3-0 down because that looks a lot worse, but the save was irrelevant.
