Acclaimed children’s writer Jacqueline Wilson has come out as gay at the age of 74. The author of The Suitcase Kid revealed her sexual preference for the first time in an interview with The Guardian and told of how she has been living with her partner Trish for almost 20 years.
She was adamant though that she’s never been guarded about who she is. ‘I’ve never really been in any kind of closet. It would be such old news for anybody that has ever known anything much about me.
Even the vaguest acquaintance knows perfectly well that we are a couple,’ she told the publication. Jacqueline was previously married to a policeman named William Millar Wilson for almost 40 years until the pair split up in 2004.
