The beauty industry was hit hard by lockdown, with salons not being allowed to operate for nearly four months. While customers are delighted that hair salons and some beauty clinics are now allowed to welcome them back, it seems a trip to get a treatment isn’t quite as affordable as it used to be.
In a new report by beauty service site Treatwell, treatments are now, on average, 26.2 per cent more expensive than before lockdown – with the highest price surge seen in hair colouring, where getting a balayage is now roughly 35.5 per cent more expensive and having highlights is 28.6 per cent pricier.
But it’s not just hair as manicures have had a 24.4 per cent rise, pedicures an 8.4 per cent rise, and waxing a 21.3 per cent rise.
