A bitter row broke out when a beauty queen claimed she was left badly injured when her crown was pulled off her head. Beauty queen Pushpika De Silva, had just won the title of ‘Mrs.
Sri Lanka’ when the former winner Caroline Jurie, who is also the reigning Mrs. World took her crown back. The bizarre moment was captured in a video published by the Colombo Gazette.
An issue arose Jurie says in the footage because of a pageant rule that prevents women who have been divorced from winning the title. ‘There is a rule that you have to be married and not divorced, so I am taking my first steps in saying that the crown goes to the first runner-up,’ Jurie tells the audience.
