As expected, the UK is officially in recession. But what does this mean for our shopping habits? In past economic downturns, shoppers have been known to tighten their belts when it comes to large ticket household items but part with their pennies for luxury lipsticks.
However, the so-called ‘Lipstick Index’ effect doesn’t seem as likely to happen this time round. After all, who wants to spend £30+ on a designer lippy when you’re only going to have to cover it up with a face mask?
Our advice instead is to support the reopening of your high street while looking for products that give more bang for your beauty buck - whether it’s time-saving budget buys, affordable multi-taskers or just dupes that give a taste of luxury for less.
