Birnam Institute Players (BIP) are rehearsing for a great festive pantomime - ready to share it with an audience for three nights at the start of December.
The am-dram crew that makes up BIP are putting on Beauty and the Beast – The Pantomime! in Birnam Arts on December 1, 2 and 3 and the team effort is quite amazing.
The familiar tale about a village girl and a bewitched prince has been rewritten by Ben Crocker, made into a French-styled frolic and promises a live band and loads of singalong songs.
There are references to Birnam and Pitlochry, Dunkeld and even (as it’s supposedly in France) Grandtully-sur-Le-Tay. In this telling of the fairytale classic, the Beast is a French poodle called Felix and the central character trying to get along with him is Rose.
