Beat the Chasers contestant from Bury wins £60k on the ITV quiz show

A writer from Bury has won a whopping £60,000 after she 'Beat the Chasers' with just a second to spare. Melissa, who is originally from San Diego, USA, went on the show to win money to take her young son to see family in Australia.

Melissa kept her nerve during a tense final and dedicated the win to her grandma, who was a massive fan of The Chase until she passed away 'a couple of years ago', aged 101.

She said: “My grandma passed away a couple of years ago she was 101 and she was such a big fan of yours and she watched The Chase every day and she would have been so proud.” Host Bradley Walsh replied: “She would have been really proud, everyone’s proud of you that was great.
