John Christopher Depp II (born June 9, 1963) is an American actor, singer, producer, and musician. He has been nominated for ten Golden Globe Awards, winning one for Best Actor for his performance of the title role in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2008), and has been nominated for three Academy Awards for Best Actor, among other accolades. He is regarded as one of the world's biggest film stars. Depp made his film debut in the 1984 film A Nightmare on Elm Street, before rising to prominence as a teen idol on the television series 21 Jump Street (1987–1990). He had a supporting role in Oliver Stone's 1986 war film Platoon and played the title character in the 1990 romantic fantasy Edward Scissorhands.

A smiling Johnny Depp was greeted by fans as he appeared in Glasgow ahead of his gig with Jeff Beck tonight. The actor arrived in the city during the early hours of this morning, when he was seen being ushered into the Dakota Hotel by his security team.Depp emerged from the back door of the hotel this afternoon and was greeted by a number of fans.The 58-year-old was beaming as he posed for pictures and signed autographs in the car park before heading off.Showbiz reporter Bev Lyons was one of the lucky people who caught a glimpse of the actor.She said: “It was great to see Johnny.

He had lots of security around him and he didn’t say much, but he was really smiley and happy to meet some fans.” Depp is scheduled to perform alongside Jeff Beck at sold out show at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow this evening.

The pair have already teamed up during shows in London, Sheffield and Newcastle. The Hollywood star's appearance in Glasgow comes just days after he won his libel case against his ex-wife Amber Heard on Wednesday.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star was awarded compensatory damages of $10million (£8 million) and a further $5 million (£4 million) in punitive damages by a jury yesterday.The actor sued the Aquaman star over an article which was titled: “I spoke up against sexual violence - and face our culture’s wrath.
