BBC Wins Christmas, Takes Every Spot In UK’s Top Ten Most Watched Shows On Christmas Day

The BBC has had a triumphant festive period, bagging every single position in the top ten most watched TV shows on Christmas Day.

As expected, Gavin and Stacey: The Finale drew the largest overall audience, drawing 64.75% of the potential audience and an average audience of 12.3million (figures provided by Overnights.TV) In second place was the equally anticipated new Aardman Animation feature-length outing, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, winning a 53% share and an average audience of 9.38million.

In third place was The King, the monarch’s annual television address, in which Charles thanked his medical staff for caring for him and his family this year, while he has undergone treatment for cancer.

His broadcast won 44% of the audience show, with an audience of 5million tuning in. The highest placed TV soap of the day was the early evening edition of EastEnders, with an audience share of 37.3% and an audience of 4.4million.
