Not all Strictly Come Dancing viewers were on board as the first 40 of the series was finally awarded in the ballroom. The BBC One dance contest reached the quarter-final stage on Saturday night (December 2) and it was also Musicals week.

Only four couples performed during the live show after major changes had to be made following Nigel Harman's sudden exit from the competition.

The actor and his professional dance partner Katya Jones had to withdraw from Strictly 2023 after he sustained a rib injury that left him in A&E.

But as the saying goes, the show must go on, but with two weeks to go until the final, and with Amanda Abbington withdrawing from the contest earlier in the series, a decision was made to cancel this weekend's dread-dance off and subsequent elimination.
