Strictly Come Dancing fans were left in tears just moments into the grand finale as they spotted a very familiar face. The BBC One dance contest reached its climax on Saturday night (December 16) with the final three couples.

After 14 celebrities signed up for the hit competition this year, there are only three left to battle it out for the Glitterball trophy and they are, with their professional dance partners, Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola, Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin and Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell.

And the programme, of course, pulled out all the stops as they drew the contest to a close for another year. It kicked off with an emotional VT from the three finalists before it was over to the ballroom. But Strictly fans were distracted as they were delighted to spot Amy Dowden performing with her co-stars. It is the first time she has performed on the show this year after treatment for cancer kept her off the show as a competitor with a celebrity partner this year. @jfhvicars cheered: "AMY IS DANCING!!!!
