BBC presenter Victoria Derbyshire has revealed the extent of the harrowing abuse she endured as a child at the hands of her father.
The 55-year-old recalled a horrific incident in which her dad threw boiling soup over her, as well as another in which he choked her.
The violence from her father, Anthony, also involved beatings with a wooden spoon and belt strikes, the TV star revealed in a new interview.
Victoria, who was born in Bury and later moved to Littleborough in Rochdale as a child, said her mother also suffered at her father's hands, suffering a broken rib in one violent episode.
