BBC's Dan Walker recalls mortifying PE teacher job interview when his trousers dropped

Dan Walker ruined his chances of getting his dream job of a PE teacher – when he dropped his trousers in an interview. The BBC Breakfast host, 43, also wanted to teach history but was denied a place on a Post Graduate Certificate teachers’ course because he was “too immature”.

Dan, 43, said he removed his trousers because he was wearing football kit underneath and wanted to explain why he had red socks on.

He said: “She sort of shook her head at me, and told me that she didn’t think I was teaching material.” Instead of teaching, Dan did an MA degree in Journalism Studies in 1999 at the University of Sheffield.
