BBC news presenter Clive Myrie has opened up on the reason he didn’t have children with his wife of 25 years. The 59-year-old, who also presents Mastermind, is married to upholsterer and furniture restorer Catherine, who he met at the launch of a book about Swiss cheese in 1992 and said, for him, it was “love at first sight”.They married six years later but never had children and now Clive has opened up about their decision as he prepares to release a book about his life called Everything Is Everything: A Memoir Of Love, Hate And Hope.Clive's job has taken him all over the world, where he has reported from war zones and various other dangerous environments and when asked if that had something to do with the couple's decision not to have kids, he said: “It wasn’t the danger of the job, just the travelling.” He went on to say: “We felt it would be selfish on children to drag them around the world.

We’ve come from big families. I’m from a family of seven (children), Catherine’s from a family of five kids. We weren’t desperate for some kind of familial glue.

You get to the point where it’s much more difficult to have a child and then you realise, do we really want that anyway?” Clive revealed that he and Catherine did try for a child when they were younger but “nothing seemed to be happening”.

Gradually, the couple decided becoming parents wasn’t for them and they have 'no regrets', writes The Mirror. He told The Times: “We were trying for a child, nothing seemed to be happening.
