Regular listeners of Zoe Ball’s Radio 2 Breakfast show were left confused this morning when the star was absent from her slot due to illness.Zoe, 52, had informed followers on Twitter that Vernon Kay had been forced to help out as she would not be hosting her programme because she’s been struck down with covid.Fans rushed to send best wishes to the former It Takes Two presenter after she gave her health update and thanked Vernon for stepping in, as reports the Mirror.

Breaking the news to her 400,000 followers, Zoe revealed: "So I’ve got covid…“But good news is ya man @vernonkay is looking after y’all @BBCRadio2,” she added with a Face with Medical Mask emoji.“Back soon," she added hopefully.Pals and colleagues from the industry, as well as fans, showed support for the mum-of-one.Rylan Clark wrote: “Noooooooooo,” while musician Tom Bertram wrote: “Feel better soon.” [sic] “Hope you’re ok lovely,” Louise Redknapp said with a heart emoji. “Really will miss you get well soon.
