Scots actor Martin Compston and his TV pal Phil MacHugh are back on our screens with their new BBC travel series Norwegian Fling.The dynamic duo are currently starring in another epic six-part series following on from the success of their 2022 show Scottish Fling.Fans will see the pair travel 2000 miles from Oslo to the Arctic North on an adventure exploring dramatic landscapes and unique traditions - topped off with some good old Scottish patter.But who is Phil MacHugh and how did he become pals with so many famous faces?Phil's family are from the Outer Hebrides and islands of South Uist and Barra.

As a child he was raised there and his first language was Gaelic.He began presenting Gaelic TV programmes for the BBC and STV aged 15.

He went on to appear in their flagship children's shows and later moved on to Smash Hits TV.He then fronted programmes 'Splaoid' and 'Nochd Gun Chadal' - a show that kick started the careers for Keane, Katie Tunsdell and many other well known musicians.He told the Record: "Being raised with Gaelic - there were countless opportunities to be involved in media as a young lad.
