BBC 'bringing back ITV favourite Gladiators' with Holly Willoughby's husband playing key role in show's return

Naturally, the show will look a bit different this time - not least because the creators will have changed a bit since the 90s, with one surprising celeb taking a major role behind the scenes. Other than a brief reboot by Sky in 2008, it's now been more than almost three decades since the classic Gladiators were on our screens.

The show was presented by Ulrika Jonsson for all eight series, with her co-host switching from John Fashanu to Jeremy Guscott in 1997.

Its cast of characters to go down in TV history included Jet, Wolf, Warrior, Lightning, Cobra, Panther and Shadow, as well as gruff referee John 'you will go on my first whistle' Anderson and voiceover man John Sachs.
