BBC Breakfast's weather presenter, Simon King, was left a tad embarrassed this Saturday (February 15) when he accidentally interrupted the live show.
During the broadcast, hosts Naga Munchetty and Ben Thompson switched to meteorologist Simon for an update on the weather. However, mid-forecast, laughter ensued as Simon's phone alarm loudly went off in his pocket. "That's my alarm telling me that I've got to go on Radio Four very, very shortly," he confessed.
Despite the mishap, Simon carried on professionally, finishing the segment seamlessly. Naga then joked: "So, shall we do two, three minutes of chat now?" Simon responded, "Well, if we do, I'll be running up the stairs, and people will think I've had a heart attack," prompting Ben to comment: "Well, we know you're a busy man, Simon, but you know..." Suddenly realising the time, Simon hastily said his goodbyes: "I've got to go, sorry!" and dashed off-screen.
Naga found the whole situation "funny," while Ben noted: "He's off," as they continued with the programme. Simon has been with the Met Office since 2005, starting as a forecaster in the Mobile Met Unit, which includes forecasters who are also sponsored reserve officers in the Royal Air Force.
