BBC Breakfast took a poignant turn this weekend as field reporter Sarah Rogers struggled to hold back tears while paying tribute to the young victims of a brutal stabbing attack in Southport.

With Ben Thompson anchoring from the studio and covering the nationwide riots sparked by the attack, Sarah was visibly moved as she navigated through balloons and flowers.

Transitioning to her, Ben stated: "Tensions have escalated since the killing of three young girls in Southport last Monday." "False rumours spread that the suspect was an asylum seeker.
