BBC Bargain Hunt's Roo Irvine is a much loved presenter on the popular show and is known for her deep interest in antiques and her striking sense of style.The Scots presenter, whose real name is Arusha but goes by the name Roo, has appeared on the BBC show since 2018 and has remained a key cast member since with her expertise and passion winning fans over.Roo, who lives in Argyll and Bute, has also appeared on other shows such as Antiques Road Trip and Flipping Profit but before her television work she once lived a very different life with her husband, Mark Irvine, which is what eventually landed her in the successful career she has today.Roo tied the knot with Mark, who is also an antiques dealer, back in 2012 and the couple live a pleasant life with their two Maine Coon cats.However, just a year on from their marriage, Roo and Mark were struck by a double family tragedy which sparked the opening of their successful antiques shop in Bute, called Kilcreggan.The business was set up after both Roo and Mark sadly lost their fathers just three weeks apart with the presenter's dad passing away very unexpectedly.Speaking about their heartbreaking loss on her website, she wrote: "Kilcreggan Antiques came about quite by (bad) luck when suddenly, and unexpectedly, in 2013, my wonderful Dad passed away.
I was heartbroken and devastated."Then, just three weeks later, my husband Mark also lost his father to a long battle with cancer.”She added: "We walked away from our senior corporate jobs and focused on taking care of our widowed mothers."I'd always loved antiques and had developed a keen eye, so my husband suggested we 'go for it' and Kilcreggan Antiques was born.
