Battlestar Galactica star Terry Carter has died at the age of 95.The news was confirmed by the actor's son, Miguel Carter DeCoste, to the New York Times on Tuesday, 23 April.Terry died peacefully at his home in New York City.
Hailing from Brooklyn, Terry made history as one of the first Black actors to have a regular role on a TV sitcom, portraying Private Sugarman on The Phil Silvers Show.
His portrayal spanned 92 episodes from 1955 to 1959. Terry was also New England's first Black television anchor and newscaster for WBZ-TV Eyewitness News in Boston from 1965 to 1968.
He also served as the station's drama and movie critic. Terry is widely remembered for his performances in about 30 films and television shows.
