Batgirl stopped traffic quite literally as the Hollywood blockbuster brought Gotham to High Street in Glasgow. The movie, which stars Leslie Grace in the title role, will also see Brendan Fraser and JK Simmons take on leading parts as the story focus on Barbara Gordon, daughter of Gotham police commissioner Jim.

HBO Max streaming service plan to showcase the film form Warner Brothers and DC Films in 2022.Today High Street, at the junction of Glasgow Cross and The Saltmarket, was closed off so Leslie's character could be filmed visiting a fake Christmas market with her boyfriend, specially set up at the old underground train station at Glasgow Cross. As you can see in our live broadcast on Facebook there were giant candy canes, pancakes and chocolate stalls set up for the fake market and the two actors were seen enjoying a hot chocolate with cream in one of our shots.

On High Street yellow cabs, police cars and American trucks drove up and down, making u-turns and stopping amid a chaotic trafficscape.

Those who looked closely could see Gotham number plates.Leslie was also was filmed around The Tolbooth Bar which has special graffiti around its sides and fake snow sprinkled around it.The snow was formed from bags of salt which were scattered around the merchant city.Over on Trongate, Parnie Street and King Street where they recently shot Indiana Jones, a whole row of shops has been given fake frontage and some even had fake props for their window display.Flower shops boasted festive blooms, polish delis had refrigerators awaiting their stock, off licenses boasted bottles of booze priced in dollars.
