Cody Bateman and Ross Loudon were on target as Scone Thistle picked up another positive result.Manager of the Jaggie Nettles Willie Laing, however, still feels the performance level can be upped.Bateman opened the scoring for the Perthshire side before man of the match Loudon doubled the lead.Arbroath Vics did pull one back after the break but it wasn’t enough at Farquharson Park.On the 2-1 Midlands League win, Laing said: “Saturday was a strange game as we didn’t play anywhere near to the level we should be at.“But we still managed to get the three points which is a great sign against a good Arbroath side that has been getting some great results recently.”Laing is pleased with how new signings - including goalscorer Loudon - are settling into the squad.He said: “The new signings have been brilliant for us - great attitude, commitment and they bring a healthy competition for places which has upped the levels of everyone.“The big man Ross was solid, did the basics right and managed to bag himself a goal.“I think we have made a good start to the season and there is plenty more to come from us.

We just need to keep focused, work hard and take a game at a time.”Elsewhere in the Midlands League, Letham hammered Coupar Angus to the tune of 7-0 at Seven Acres.Jack Hutchison, Aidan Edwards (2), Paul McConnachie, Mark Shaw, Paddy Deane and Kacper Prześlica netted the goals for the Perth men.Blairgowrie, meanwhile, drew 3-3 with Downfield at Davie Park with Gary Axworthy claiming a brace and Matty Adam the other.Fixtures for Wednesday night (7pm) - Arbroath Vics v Letham, Coupar Angus v Lochee Harp, Tayport v Scone Thistle.
