Greta Gerwig made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live to introduce musical guest Billie Eilish alongside host Kate McKinnon.
Eilish performed “What Was I Made For?”, a song from the Barbie soundtrack. Barbie co-star McKinnon and the film’s co-writer/director Gerwig, who are old college friends, appeared on screen embracing each other to present Eilish.
In Eilish’s performance, a montage of home videos and unseen photos of past and present female cast members appeared. The tribute came as an ode to the emotional scene in the Barbie film where Eilish’s song appears.
