Greta Gerwig hit box office gold with Barbie, the film starring Margot Robbie as the titular character and Ryan Gosling as Ken.
Following the movie’s success, there have been questions about following it up with a sequel. Warner Bros. nor Mattel have confirmed anything is in the works, but in a recent interview, Gerwig was asked about a potential Barbie spinoff revolving around Ken. “I mean, the truth is, you know…I guess we’ll see,” Gerwig told Sharyn Alfonsi during a 60 Minutes interview.
Gerwig played coy to Alfonsi’s question about a Ken movie, saying she couldn’t comment on the matter but didn’t shut down the possibility entirely.
The topic of an entire movie focusing on Gosling’s Ken came to be after Gerwig mentioned they had a lot of ideas for the character that ultimately didn’t make the final draft of the script. “We had way too much material for Ken.
