Bar shut down for 'repeated failings' on coronavirus lockdown rules

A Bury town centre bar has been forced to close after authorities said there were repeated failures to enforce coronavirus lockdown rules.Kavern, at the Rock, has been handed an immediate closure notice by Bury Council after a number of warning letters were sent out to management and the owner.Council officers made several visits to the venue and say they found people drinking in large groups with little or no social distancing.

A follow-up visit last weekend found that insufficient action was being taken to follow the guidelines.The owners will now have to make changes that will satisfy the council's safety team before the business can be reopened.Bury now has a rate of infection of 85.9 new cases for every 100,000 people in the town,.
